You should own this book!

This book is absolutely amazing.

Jean paints with more water than pigment and this book shows you how she does it - and makes it easy for you to learn her abstract, impressionist no rules approach and apply it to your own work. She shares all her knowledge and doesn't hold anything back. I recently took a workshop with Jean and this book is like having her in my studio - tips, advice and how to's all in this book.

If you are looking to break out of your box, enjoy painting, be fearless and stop creating perfectly perfect watercolor paintings - if you want to have fun painting and really look foreword to getting to paint every day then you should buy this book.

This book has lots of step by step pictures and she explains her techniques really well. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

essential teaching book

I've been painting for 10 years and found this book very enlightening and easy to follow. Ms. Haines teaches in a very compelling way, explaining in detail, her excitement and methods of learning to paint loose, with superior results. I ordered another book for a friend who is following all the examples with astounding results. Both she and I are very p0leased with Jean Haines' book. Amazon was the key to getting this book in a short time and in pristine condition.

I love Jean's new book

I really do love Jean Haines' Atmospheric Watercolors. She has a technique like no other artist I've seen (and I have a LOT of books). She shares her information freely and actually has made me feel like I can do some of those things. She works on 300 lb rough paper and I haven't treated myself to any of that yet. . .but I will soon! If I could save just one book in a fire or flood this would be it!

Quick Introduction to Dependency Injection using Spring Framework

"Just Spring" covers the basics of the Spring Framework and applying dependency injection to software application development. In the book Madhusadhan covers Spring Beans, some advanced topics, Spring JMS, and Spring Data in a concise overview to get you up and running quickly using the Spring Framework. Other books are much longer and do go into a bit more detail, but if you are wanting to get introduced to the Spring Framework and apply it to your application development quickly then this is the book for you. Madhusadham is straight to the point on his discussions of the topics covered in the book and he provides example code that he explains in detail in order for you to be able to apply it quickly to your own applications. I would recommend this book to the person wanting to quickly understand how the Spring Framework and dependency injection can be applied to their future projects.

I have been working with the Spring Framework over the past couple of years and had not run into its ability to simplify JMS and JDBC database access. After reading the two chapters covering these topics, I can see the benefits in being able to apply them to future applications that I will develop. I really enjoyed how MAdhusadham was straight to the point in covering the content of the Spring Framework and had great examples to go along with everything that he was talking about. If you are looking for a more advanced coverage of the Spring Framework, I would recommend reading the specifications off the Spring website or look at other books in this topic that provide a more advanced coverage.

There are a few typos that you will see when reading the book, but you can quickly figure out what the intended word was. One that I remember was when the JdbcTemplate was being covered and in the book it says "This call should serve to do most of the work." where he was actually talking about the JdbcTemplate class. Very minor and easy to figure out the intent.

Keep in mind that I would not pass up this book if you are just getting started in wanting to apply dependency injection using the Spring Framework. This book covers everything that you need to get going quickly in 62 pages and will save you time from reading a book that is 200 to 300 pages in order to get the same basics in using Spring.

Poorly written

This is a frustrating read due it's poor quality of writing. There are many grammatical errors, annoyingly out of context snippets of code and the author makes a lot of assumptions, which often throw the reader off. I've only read about 30% of this book and do not want to read further.

Annoyances begin right in the first chapter. There's a line which goes "This snippet shows a VanillaDataReaderClient class that uses FileReader to fetch the data." The following snippet of code contains a "new FileReader()" line. However out of no where the author switches to calling this VanillaFileReader and shows another snippet of code for "Class VanillaFileReader". When I first looked at the code I saw the reference to a FileReader class, but upon scrolling down I couldn't see any definitions for it, until I read closely and realized the author started calling it VanillaFileReader out of whim. (This wasn't an example using Spring, so the name difference is actually an error, and not to demonstrate decoupling).

Further somewhere it reads "If you do not wish to tie up to Spring's @Autowired annotation usage, perhaps think about using JSR-330's @Inject annotation". What is JSR-330!??? and why was it thrown at me out of nowhere!? The entire text just throws little pieces of information and snippets of code at you without establishing a framework of understanding.

This book is like someone haphazardly explaining something to you by writing crude lines and examples on a white-board, except that there's no possibility of you interacting with the instructor, like there would be in case someone was actually explaining something to you on a white board.

no editors at o'reilly?

The book is brief, as advertised, and is more or less okay in terms of content. The translation, however, is appalling and, as another reviewer notes, seriously detracts from the content. Are there no editors or even spellcheckers at O'Reilly? Consider a section of only 3 pages:

On page 17 you find "We can wire the beans usng [sic] Annotations." Apart from the obvious typo, the author gives no indication what is meant by "wire the beans".

A few lines later, on page 18: "The take away piece is to decorate the class with a stereotype called Component. This annoation [sic] indicates..." That first sentence is pure gibberish and, yet again, is followed closely by a typo any spellchecker should have caught.

Page 19: "Although, they do not clutter our xml files, they are tied to source though." More gibberish, but this time with a misplaced comma.

You get the picture. Mercifully you only get 60-odd pages of this sort of thing. 'Tis enough, 'twill serve.

About the Author

Anne Berest is the author of two novels and a biography of Françoise Sagan published this year; she also writes for television, cinema, and theater.

Audrey Diwan became a scriptwriter after studying journalism and political science. She wrote the screenplay for Cédric Jimenez’s La French, with Jean Dujardin, and is now directing her first feature film; she is also editor-at-large for the magazine Stylist.

Caroline de Maigret studied literature at the Sorbonne before moving to New York to model. She returned to Paris in 2006 to found her music label. De Maigret has been an ambassador for Chanel since 2012, and supports women worldwide through the NGO Care.

Sophie Mas was born and raised in Paris. After graduating from Sciences Po and HEC, she started her own film company and now works as a producer in Los Angeles, New York and São Paulo.

Here's a breakdown of each chapter, and oh--it should be re-titled "How to UNDERSTAND a Parisian". A collection of list-icles

I live in NYC where there's a lovesick affair with all things French -- I mean, there are buildings here named "The Left Bank". Walking thru the West Village? you hear just as many French convos as you do English. Every editor espouses "Get that French It-Girl look!". Heck, Isabel Marant is a worshipped idol with an altar on Broome Street. So when this book came my way, I just had to take a closer look. In short, it won't *teach* you how to be Parisian, but it will help you *understand* the Parisian.

You can flip to any page and start reading, 'cause it's a mishmosh of :
40% bullet-point "list-icles" of Parisian aphorisms, do's + don'ts
30% filler photography by one of the authors
20% inner monologues that show Parisienne's thought processes on life
10% filler artwork (gotta fill up more space!)

The tone is informative, yet intentionally self-deprecating, 'cause, like, "let's not turn off the American audience with our snobbisms and superiority complex! After all, we need to sell books!" This makes the book engaging and easy to read at first.

Chapter 1: The Basics
-Aphorisms: "make it look easy", "always be f*ckable", "be own your knight in shining armor"
-Fashion No-No's: "wearing too much makeup", "sweatpants", "Ugg boots"
-Mannerisms, Faux Pas, Famous Parisiennes
In essence, the Parisienne doesn't want to look primped 'n polished. She's naturally confident, having grown up with an excellent French education that has cultivated her in philosophy, arts, literature, and good taste. This is key--- she has so much substance that she knows she's worth it. No need to prove it with designer logos or bling. She's selfish in a good way, which can read as snobbish to Americans.

Chapter 2: Collection of Disjointed Listicles
-Being Aloof: "talk softly so that people have to lean in to hear you", "Always look as if gazing into the sunset."
-Dinner Party Talk: "if possible, get the conversation flowing with a controversial political statement"
-Driving: "whenever she gets pulled over, the Parisienne begins to cry"
-Recipe for Lemon Chicken and Pot Au Feu
This chapter is just as cuckoo as the Parisienne. To sum it up, she's full of contradictions. She's a feminist but watches porn. She'll smoke on her way to the countryside to get fresh air. She acts aloof but has anxieties.

Chapter 3: More Fashion + Culture Stuff
-Lists of "essential" wardrobe items which you've seen in magazines/blogs 100x before (ballet flats, white shirt, scarf, trench...)
-More random diary-like musings on books (Proust is a given), savoring the moment, poetic odes to sitting at cafes, aging gracefully

Chapter 4: Love
Few of these bullet points will work if you're seducing an American man. They're just not used to the cold, aloofness "game" unless one is extraordinarily pretty. This is not an instructional manual-- it's more to help you understand the liberal French attitude towards love and sex; where sexual jokes are totally normal in office environment, where having a lover on the side is natural. You just have to grow up in the culture to "get it."

Chapter 5: Filler Lists of Stuff
-Recipes for crepes, baked apples, eggplant caviar + more
-Parlor games to play at a dinner party
-List of French words used in English + vice versa ("trompe l'oeil")
-The authors' favorite Paris haunts, films, quotes

Ok, some redeeming moments -- the games are actually fun, and the recipes authentic. But the list of Paris hotspots will ultimately be out of date, and the inner monologues are repetitive and tired. There is a 2-page spread of a Paris photo for you to "cut out" and put in your pocket. Hmm... TRYING to fill up the book, eh? As i reach the end, it seems desperate to provide substance through lists. Well, i can get these bullet points from the 'Net without the overtly dreamy filler paragraphs.

i'm familiar enough with the French culture that this book is a throwaway for me. I wish the book was more like Chapter 4, which is the most sociological and interesting. The inner monologues throughout also help in understanding this enigmatic creature. But the rest of this "book" of lists is easily found on various blogs and articles on French style.

If you're new to Parisian culture, and don't want to scour Google for all the various info, then this book can be a good "101".
You won't become Parisian after reading this book. But you can *definitely* understand her a little more after reading it.

I'm not the right audience

My interest in the french culture and being Parisian stems from my interest in Coco Chanel, the woman. Her life story fascinates me and I'm always looking for anything written about her and her life. I also really enjoy books written by Mireille Guiliano and by Americans living in Paris trying to raise children in French society. So it's no surprise that this book piqued my interest when I saw it referenced by someone I follow on Instagram. I downloaded it to my kindle and finished it in a weekend. It's a quick, easy read. I can't say I didn't like the book, it just wasn't for me: a 45 year old, professional, married, mother of two, happy living the typical American suburban life. Other than the recipes, and a few fashion and style tips not much else can be gleaned from the book and applied to my life. But, if you are young, single and trying to be a Parisian Carrie Bradshaw - this book is for you!

The love bits particularly make me gag

I don't get so many positive reviews for this one. I thought it would be a guilty pleasure type of read but it paints women as a strange combination of vapid and calculating. It is list after list and not much else. I purchased the audio version to listen in the car and I cannot get through it. The love bits particularly make me gag. Very 1950's kind of garbage with acting like you're busy when he calls and sending yourself flowers to make him jealous. Gross!

Simply a waste of time. Yes they are a very clever series of tricks to do arithmetic in your head, but with numerous exceptions and caveats. A bright student may look at these with some interest to see why they work, but for the vast majority of students there is no value in more rules to be learnt and certainly no understanding of basic maths to be gained.

Displeased with the condition

I am in a program for Medical Transcription and it was suggested that I obtain this book for my learning experience. The reason why I bought the book "Used-Very Good" condition was the promise that it would come with a CD rom that had the book in PDF format. Instead what I got was a book that was to put it politely "ratty" with dog eared pages and the cover falling off. There was no PDF with my book, and if this is "very good" then I'm scared for those who bought it in "good" or "acceptable" condition. Normally I think of praising what I purchase from Amazon.com, but in this case I think you're probably better off getting it from AHDI directly.

This is the medical transcriptionist's Bible. If you want to keep up-to-date on the newest information and changes that Joint Commission will be looking for, then this is the book you need. The correct forms, abbreviations, changes, etc. I couldn't do without it.

Buy this book if you are an MT or MTE

I purchased this book as used and it was in near perfect condition. I saved quite a bit of money doing so and the only thing wrong with the book was that there was a very small amount of wear on the corners of the covers. This book is absolutely the Bible for Medical Transcription! Very much worth the money. I know I will get years of use.

A delightful series starter!

Married young to a man almost three times her age and widowed only a few years later, Lady Isabel Avenbury is used to taking care of others. After the death of her parents, she took in her two younger sisters and raised them almost as if they were her own children. But while she may possess good mothering skills, Isabel is barren and cannot have children of her own. And although Isabel is only 28, she is considered too old by Society's standards to marry any of the Season's eligible bachelors. But Isabel isn't looking to marry. Instead, she plans to take a lover just as soon as she can marry off her last single sister.

Seth Rowland, Marquis of Lyndham, needs to marry as quickly as possible and start producing heirs to please his mother and ensure the title remains in the immediate family. Seth had no interest in marriage until his older brother tragically died, but now his mother is throwing a house party filled with the Season's most eligible females and Seth is expected to marry one of them. He cringes at the thought of tying his life to any one of the flighty, unintelligent cardboard cutouts currently parading around his house. That is, until he see Isabel step out of the carriage with her sister.

Seth knows he can't touch her and Isabel must focus on finding her sister a husband, but when Seth catches her stealing the Season's most talked-about book -- The Ladies Book of Pleasures -- from his library, their attraction ignites a love affair that refuses to bend to Society's rules.

I really like Isabel's character. As women, I think it's very easy for us to get caught up in taking care of those around us to the detriment of ourselves. Isabel had to marry a man she didn't love in order to provide for her two younger siblings. Like many women, she sacrifices some of the things she wants from life to ensure that those she loves don't have to go without. And although Isabel embraces her role with upbeat optimism that everything will work out, she is also realistic about how Society views her inability to have children and the limitations placed on her as a result. It's a universal theme that fits seamlessly into this story.

It is also the driving catalyst of conflict between Isabel and Seth. Theirs is a beautiful love story because readers see from the start the attraction they feel towards each other, know that Seth has felt that attraction since before Isabel was married but was unable to pursue her since was already betrothed, and they now must contend with Seth's pressing need for children and Isabel's inability to give them to him. The romance is sensual, heartwarming, and made exciting by Isabel and Seth's attempts to conceal their affair from the multitude of guests in and around the house. (Everything is more fun when you think you're being sneaky about it!) And yet, Seth and Isabel struggle with their feelings for one another believing that they must conform to Society's expectations regarding marriage and children. Watching them try to figure out the difference between "what is right" and "what is right for them" is such a sweet, uplifting journey. You really want to keep reading well past "The End."

Overall, A Matter of Sin is a delightful series starter and I can't wait to read Grace and Jacinda's stories too. I highly recommend reading this book -- Passionate, tender, and comforting, you just know that Seth and Isabel are going to craft a beautiful HEA for themselves.

Good Start to New Series

A MATTER OF SIN is the first book in The Ladies' Book of Pleasures series. It is the story of Lady Isabel Avenbury who has decided that once her younger sister has married that she will take a lover. At a house party, Isabel meets Seth Rowland, the Marquis Lyndham. While the two share a strong attraction, Seth is the last male in his family and must marry and beget an heir. Isabel sadly knows that she cannot be Seth's bride because she is already failed to produce an heir for her deceased husband.

The romance between these two is sweet and easy. Seth and Isabel are clearly well matched. There is little drama keeping these two apart. Most of the book is centered upon their developing relationship. I found myself anticipating the books to follow because I was very much interested in the story of Isabel's friends. There is also an intriguing story about the book that plays a pastry in the sexual escapades of the characters.

Great start to a new Jess Michaels' series. I have read a lot of Jess' books and have loved everyone of them. This one is no exception. This book is a little different from her other series. There are no tortured heroes/heroines. Isabel and Seth are truly nice people and the book is very sweet (but do not think this is all sugar, there is definitely spice). I really enjoyed reading how they grew to love each other through talking (it was not all about lust). Isabel always puts others before herself almost to the detriment of her relationship with Seth. Seth, with a little help from his friend Jason, realizes that he must do what his heart desires, not what society dictates. Their scenes are lovely reading and a lot of them will make you smile.

I also loved the secondary characters (Jason and Grace). Jason is a libertine but is a true friend and shows an emotional side. One of the best scenes in the book is Jason berating Seth on his treatment of Isabel. I look forward to Jason's book. I have a feeling it will be very emotional. Another character who captured my attention was Grace. She is a friend of Isabel's, along with Jacinda, and her situation is unclear in this book. She is obviously a very strong woman and I look forward to her book.

Also, the question of who wrote "The Ladies Book of Pleasures" is intriguing. I have my suspicion. Will be interesting to find out.

Lindsey Stirling is an acclaimed electronic violinist, who has over 7 million YouTube subscribers, and 11 billion views on her YouTube channel. She has enjoyed Billboard chart-topping hits and sold out tours worldwide, all without the backing of a label. To date, she has released two studio albums: her 2013 self-titled debut and the smash 2014 follow up, Shatter Me. The latter debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and won her a Billboard Music Award for “Top Dance/Electronic Album.” On stage, Lindsey combines the infectious energy of dance, electronica, and modern classical music with ballet-inspired dance moves. The Only Pirate at the Party A GIRL
IN CURLS

As a child, I had a big head, a tiny voice, and a total disregard for social cues. All young kids are oblivious at first—public tantrums and soiling one’s pants are somehow okay in infancy—but eventually most children start noticing and mimicking cultural norms. I, on the other hand, managed to glide through childhood without perceiving (or perhaps caring about) these “accepted behaviors.” To be clear, my mother tells me I stopped pooping my pants at a very early age, but she also told me not to use any form of the word poop in my book. Anyway, I just never seemed to care much about what other people were doing.

I was a natural-born drama queen, and my kindergarten classroom set the stage for one of my earliest impromptu performances. One morning as I was getting dressed for school I found myself digging through boxes of dress-up clothes instead of my dresser. And to think, all this time I’d been limiting the use of costumes to playdates and Halloween—what a waste!

Minutes later, I emerged from my room wearing a kimono, red sequined shoes, a single glove, and a curly brown wig. Had the wig been red I would have been overjoyed—Little Orphan Annie was one of my first idols—but this wig would do. It had short, uneven ringlets, and if I shifted my weight just so, I could make the frizzy curls dance around my face. The cute outfit my mother had purchased for the first day of school lay in a heap on my bedroom floor. When I announced to her that I was ready for school, she took one bemused look at me and did what any good mother would do—she handed me my lunch and drove me to Jefferson Elementary.

When I arrived, my class was already gathered for Circle Time, reading quietly on the opposite side of the room. To draw their attention I walked through the door, spread my arms wide, and struck the most dramatic pose I could think of. “Tada!” I said in a mouse-like voice as I hopped from one spindly leg to the other. The class erupted into giggles, and I felt like a champion. Mrs. Fowler wasted no time in sending for the principal—but only so she could showcase her slightly odd student.

Despite my larger-than-life theatrics, I was always quite small for my age. In the first grade, I compensated by becoming best friends with two giants named Krista and Naomi. Maybe their tall-girl instincts told them I needed looking after, or maybe I subconsciously gravitated to their protective body types; either way, we made a wicked team.

Here we are on a field trip to the petting zoo, Krista and Naomi mean muggin’ the camera in my defense.

On second thought, maybe it was our mutual love for saggy denim that brought us together.

Krista and Naomi’s parents were also best friends, so they were constantly doing things together outside of school. After a few months of playing with them at recess, the girls brought me into their inner circle of friendship by inviting me to Knott’s Berry Farm. When Naomi asked me if I wanted to go with her I was speechless. Going to Knott’s Berry Farm was considered a full-fledged vacation for my family. Apparently, to hers it was an average weekend activity, one to which she could invite friends no less!

When Naomi’s mom called that night I could hear my mom in the next room.

“Hi Clair, I was just thinking we needed to invite Naomi over again soon.”

There was a pause.

“Oh, are you sure? Okay.” My mom continued, “Thank you, she is going to be so excited.”

And just like that it was settled.

On the morning of our outing I slipped into my best saggy jeans and waited anxiously for my ride by the front door. As I sat looking out the window my mom watched from the kitchen.

“Lindsey, are you excited to go to Knott’s Berry Farm?” she asked.

“Yes,” I said smiling, eagerly looking for Naomi’s red SUV.

“I want you to tell me about all the rides when you get back. Maybe another time we’ll go together.”

“Okay,” I replied, my focus unwavering.

My mom, like most, wanted to give her kids everything and more. But she was also the kind of mom who never spent money she didn’t have. If we ran out of milk before the end of the month, we ate Cream of Wheat instead of cereal; and when we ate a lot of Cream of Wheat, we didn’t go places like the local Blockbuster, let alone Knott’s Berry Farm.

“Hey Lindsey, look at me for a second.”

Reluctantly, I turned toward my mom. She was smiling gently.

“You know I love you, right?”

“Yep,” I said quickly, but I was immediately distracted by the slow crunch of tires pulling into the driveway.

“She’s here!” I screamed, jumping up and running for the door.

“All right, have fun!” she yelled back, scrubbing a pan in the sink.

Soon after arriving at the amusement park, we realized I wasn’t tall enough for the most exciting rides. I frequently got left behind with Naomi’s younger brother, Troy. At first I was disappointed—how was I going to tell my mom about the rides if I couldn’t even get on them? But eventually Naomi’s mom started buying Troy and me special treats to keep us occupied. All I had to do was look at something for longer than six seconds and she would offer to buy it: cotton candy, churros, frozen lemonade, fry bread, and endless turns at the ring toss booth. The wonders of concession stand food were new to me. Usually, when we went out, my mom packed sandwiches that became soggy in her purse by lunchtime. Naomi’s mom had obviously forgotten to make lunches, which was okay, since she seemed to have an endless supply of five-dollar bills to fill their place.

At one point, Naomi’s mom suggested that the girls go on a smaller ride with Troy and me. Naomi looked back and forth between her mother and Krista before she replied, “But those rides are boring.” I waited for Naomi’s mom to pull her daughter aside to have a chat about being polite and, I don’t know, a good friend. Instead, she handed me another five-dollar bill and let the girls go on their way.

Before long I was stuffed, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. There was no telling when I would get another opportunity to have so much processed food and sugar, or win such ugly (but giant!) stuffed animals again. So I kept looking, and eating, and playing the ring toss. When I returned home at the end of the day I felt sick. But I was delighted by the hideous stuffed lizard under my arm. So what if I’d spent the entire day with a four-year-old boy?

Over time Krista and Naomi introduced me to other things: the Miss America Pageant, eating at restaurants for no particular reason, and the idea of getting paid for doing chores. They called that one “allowance,” and they were both shocked to hear I had never received one.

“What do you mean you don’t get paid to clean your room?”

I was also surprised to find out that a different tooth fairy visits rich people. One time Naomi received five dollars for a front tooth. One tooth! It wasn’t even that big. In fact, Naomi had tiny teeth—the kind of teeth that barely reached the cob when she ate corn. I, on the other hand, had beaver cleavers, and I was certain they were going to work in my favor. The next time I lost a tooth I asked Naomi if she would put it under her pillow, which she did, and I eagerly awaited my grand prize. Her fairy was going to be so impressed. The next day she returned with the tooth but no cash. Her fairy didn’t buy it. Disappointed, I put it under my pillow and awoke the next morning to find two shiny quarters in its place. I imagined my little fairy carrying those quarters through the night, one under each arm (which would have been much harder to fly with than a five-dollar bill), and I was grateful for her extra effort—even if the amount of money was a letdown. At breakfast that morning my mom handed me a bowl of Cream of Wheat and sat down at the table.

“So, did the tooth fairy come last night?” she asked.

I considered telling her about Naomi’s five dollars, but I was worried she might call the Tooth Fairy Office to complain, and what if my fairy got fired? I kept it to myself and answered, “Yes, I got two quarters.”

“Two whole quarters? That must have been one big tooth!”

Tell that to Naomi’s fairy, I thought. But the more I thought about it, the more I appreciated my fairy’s quarters. She wasn’t the richest, obviously, but she was definitely one of the strongest. I liked my little fairy, she did good.

Wonderful lessons and inspirations we can all learn from...

Her music has such broad appeal, that the couple of times I've met Lindsey at her Meet & Greets I've kidded her that I am "president of the senior Stirlingites!" (Someone has to speak for her legions of older fans!) After reading her book, I'm even more convinced that she is at the cutting edge of changing how the music industry works and operates behind the scenes. She is the new model of the American Dream and has almost single-handedly fought through every barrier and obstacle to achieve success. Despite what other celebrities want you to believe, Lindsey's independence is a rare commodity in Hollywood and she's built her own brand from the ground up through guts, determination, and never taking her fans for granted. She may be the only pirate at the party and because she is "different" she has always charted her own course -- even if she is using a couch as a boat -- to the chagrin of those who underestimate her talents and resilience. Lindsey wrote the book with the help of her sister, Brooke, who is an amazingly talented writer (their father is too!) and it provides a fascinating and honest look at Lindsey's roller coaster life. It's serious, funny, and touching all at the same time. This book would appeal to all age groups and I'm glad she documented her experiences -- I can picture her grandchildren reading this someday and laughing their heads off. It provides wonderful lessons and inspirations we can all learn from, regardless of our age.

Meaningful and heartfelt

This is a real book about a real person. Many celebrity (auto)biographies are narcissistic promotional pieces, existing only to "build the brand" and re(de)fine the public persona of the subject. This one, like its subject, is a little different. Sure, nobody produces a biography about themselves to hide their inner self, in the end this book exists to bring more exposure to Ms Stirling. But it's not the sort of self-sycophantic me-worship of so many others. There are the stories about the embarrassing moments of life and performance, the mis-steps, the self-doubt and the failure to meet the expectations of Reality TV Showbiz and orchestral professionals. But there are also the meaningful moments of triumph and friendship and family,

While this is a book about Lindsey Stirling, violin super-star, it introduces you to Lindsey Stirling, the actual person with weird quirks, funny friends, awkward family, unpopular religion and strict morals and a peculiar pirate obsession.

Will anyone who isn't a Stirling fan buy this book? Maybe not, because they wouldn't know why they should. Would anyone who isn't a Stirling fan get something out of this book? Yes, completely. Because at the end of the day, like many of Stirling's songs, this book is about a girl finding her true calling, being dedicated enough to pursue it through all the setbacks, eating disorders, crises of confidence, music business depravity and Piers Morgan, and overcoming them all to become a superstar. All while remaining true to herself, her family and her music. Just about anyone could learn from that.

Written in a lighthearted and self-deprecating tone, in conjunction with her sister, this book is an easy and enjoyable read for anyone who likes Stirling's music and wants to know more about the girl behind the limelight, or anyone who wants to be inspired to take on their own demons. And overcome Piers Morgan.

If you love Lindsey for who she is and what she stands for, as I do, you will be rewarded by this reading.
She is a wonderful person who He has truly blessed and has allowed her to bless others thru her music.
Now she shares her life's story and you will love getting to know her.
